A word from the Elks Sports Committee
We need your help! We are trying to update our locker records and need to know who is in which locker. We will be putting a temporary tag on all lockers in question. If you feel uncomfortable putting your name on a locker please put your locker number with your name on the sheet hanging in the hallway. When you pay your dues and locker fees, please write your locker number on the statement or on your check. Any questions please contact one of the following:
Chris Amick, Terry Beaumont, Steve Bradley or Dan Olson. Thank you.
There are still nearly 100 valuable members that have not paid dues.
That’s $10,000 for community projects like scholarships, dictionaries, drug awareness, scouting, many veteran’s projects (coats for vets, deer blinds, etc), food bank,
Little League, and on and on.
“The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don't play together, the club won't be worth a dime.” Babe Ruth
ACTIVITY COMMITTEE NEWSLETTER 6.1.16
May was full of activity at Elks 112. Mayor Bob Scott designated May 22 -28 as Sioux City Elks 112 Youth Week and we held a Youth Celebration to honor the winners of the many Elks Youth Programs from the past year including Drug Awareness, Americanism, Hoop Shot and Scholarship winners. Thank you to Steve & Brenda Bradley, Steve & Suki Smith and Pat & Skip Hoelker for helping make this a great event for our youth.
We also honored all mothers with a special Mother’s Day gift and celebrated Cinco de Mayo +1 with Fajitas, a Margarita Special and Photo Selfie booth which was enjoyed by many. Several Elks enjoyed Elks at the Bandits on May 7. Thank you to those who represented our lodge as security at the Susan B. Komen Walk. Monday Game Nights continued with fun and prizes. Roger Groves called bingo for Kesy Jolin with new bingo balls and cards the Groves family is donating for use on First Monday of the Month Bingo. Ken Greay continues to hold the Up and Down the River Championship Title. Who is going to take the title from him??? Did you come and play Pollack Horeshoes with Joyce Jensen or Ladder Golf with Karen Hoag? If not, you don’t know what you missed!! Next month we will have Bingo, Up & Down the River, BYO Meat Potluck with Horseshoes, and Ladder Golf.
Mark your calendars now because you won’t want to miss the Family Carnival on Sunday June 12 from 1- 4PM. Bring you kids, grandkids or neighbor kids down for fun carnival games, pony rides, and of course a food stand. $5 will get each child a wristband for all carnival events. See Carnival Article. We are looking for donations of 2 liters of pop and 12 packs of pop to be used as game props and prizes, as well as any trinkets you may have to donate for prizes. Please leave in box in coat closet or call Gloriann 712-301-2699.
The Elks 112 will have a Flag Day Ceremony at the Grandview Bandshell June 12 at 7:30 before the Bandshell Concert. Come down and show your patriotism, support the Elks 112 officers and enjoy the outdoor concert after the ceremony.
Watch for details of Drive Inn & Sit Out Movie Night at the Elks Lodge on July 1. Like Sioux City Elks #112 to keep up with other lodge events. Many more exciting events are planned for the coming year so watch your calendar, newsletter, webpage and Sioux City Elks #112 on Facebook for upcoming events.
We hope you see an activity you enjoy and encourage suggestions for future Monday Game Nights. See you at the LODGE.
